At time passes by, this world that we live in seems to get smaller. Not geographically but, inter culturally. As technological and travel advancements are made on a daily basis people find it easier to travel all over the glove and also move from country to country.
This migration of people has benefited the culinary field and caused a revolution of flavors, especially in this country.

We are very lucky to live here where we have access to pretty much any type food we want. All types of restaurants are available within a few miles. Unfortunately what is available sometimes is really not that good for keeping your tummy flat.

This does not mean that a certain type of food is bad for you or is full of calories, but you just don’t really know what is being put in there. The best approach to International Cooking is to take it upon yourself and start experimenting. This is going to be really a lot of fun, you are going to gain so many skills that the next time a party rolls around and you have to host it, you will certainly impress a lot of people but even better feeding them healthy recipes. So we are going to kind of develop some healthy menus based on different regions of the world, in the next couple of blogs. Starting with one of the most delicious and ingredient rich cuisines out there, Italian food.

Italian Food is really so very different from region to region in this wonderful country, so we will focus on what is popular here in America. The number one ingredient that anyone will think about when Italian food comes along is pasta. What is not really known is that a plate of this wonderful good can have as many calories as 1900. So if you are in the mood, please buy the whole grain and do make your own sauce, avoiding the cream sauces. Just a simple chopped garlic sautéed in olive oil, with cheese on top is a great sauce.

Olive Oil: This is an ingredient that is associated with Italian food but is used all over the world. It makes a great thing to have in your kitchen if you are trying to cut your calories, it can make a great dressing simply combined with a lemon juice. If serving bread at the dinner table it is a great replacement for butter.

Tomatoes, Basil and Mozzarella. These three ingredients combined make up a great a salad, the insalata caprese, and are all-great for you, with a serving of fresh mozzarella only having 87 per calories.

Parmigiano Regigiano
or better known as Parmesan cheese, is also a basic Italian ingredient and is really a great snack if you feel like having a bite of something, with only 20 calories per serving.

Italian food can really be really healthy if you put the right ingredients in place, avoid the pizzas and heavy pastas, along with your Acceletrim capsules to keep your cravings under control.
